Filters - Sand is the oldest and most popular method of filtration for swimming pools. Water flows from top to bottom during normal filtration cycles and use an lateral system in the bottom of the filter to return water back to the pool. Smaller & above ground pools tend to use cartridge filters.
Pumps - When buying a pool pump it is important to look at its circulation ability & see how much it can pump either by the minute or by the hour. A good basic rule of thumb is to ensure that the pump can circulate your pool's entire water volume in around 8 hours. Most swimming pool pumps are self-priming centrifugal pumps. Such pumps require a vacuum chamber, known as the pump housing, which must be filled with water so that the pump can make a vacuum and enable it to pull water from your pool.
